TIFF12: The Reluctant Sartorialist

Remember when Kate Hudson had the hippie chick thing going at most awards shows – the free and breezy vibe and beach waves? She was a reluctant sartorialist.

Well, such is no longer the case.

This hippie has gone haute.

Kate shines in a McQueen dream.

She attended the gala for her latest film – Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist at the Toronto International Film Festival – in an ultra-glam gown by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.

Don’t you love when a dress fits – and sits so well?

That star? Every time a red carpet dress fits so well, a fashion angel gets its wings.

Best dressed: quite the responsibility to carry on those padded shoulders. Luckily, other essentials can be carried in the knuckle encrusted McQueen skull clutch.

Along with Julianne Moore (who also wore McQueen), Kate is one of my choices for best dressed at the Fest.

Her acting in said film, which I’ve just returned from seeing today? Not as scene stealing.
