BFAs 2011: Fashion Rocks, Junior Edition

The 2011 British Fashion Awards were held earlier tonight at the Savoy Hotel in London. Where there is fashion, there are inevitably rock stars…or reasonable facsimiles, in the form of their offspring.

My dears, I give you Fashion Rocks: The Next Generation.

Amber Le Bon looks so much like her super-duper mom, no? And she is blessed with that glorious skin tone, too.

Model moms are likely a requirement to get into the ceremony, plus a nom couldn’t hurt, either. Georgia May followed in her mother Jerry Hall’s footsteps and was nominated for the Model category this year. She’s got the moves like Jagger. (Sorry, had to do it.)

Tali Lennox’s mum, Annie, is not only rock-starrish, but has her own exhibition called The House of Annie Lennox at the V&A right now (post to follow, soonish) + is a role model to all of us with her philanthropic efforts. She produced a lovely daughter, too.

So while we are talking about shiny musical icons, here’s a six-degrees-of-separation moment for you. Tali, who wore Burberry to the awards, starred in a campaign for the brand earlier this year, with Tara Ferry. Tara is the son of Bryan, one who has also appeared in a Burberry campaign or two prior, with his other sons Otis and Isaac (whom I shall forever know as James – a story for another day) and also with Stella Tennant – this year’s Model winner. Bryan, of course, also dated Georgia’s mum, Jerry before her Jagger days. Mick nicked her from Mr. Ferry in a most unfashionable way, the story goes – a Siren, indeed.

Incidentally, Bryan and Tara (who plays drums for dad’s band) also appear in this year’s H&M holiday campaign with the soundtrack being a cover version of Girls on Film – which brings us back to Amber’s dad, SLB, who did the original version of the song with the Duran boys. [Seen their newest girls on film vid yet?]

The Durans in their heyday were seen as the Second Coming, or at the very least, dubbed as ‘The Fab Five’, to echo ‘The Fab Four’ (oh the Brit media!). One of the Fab Four, of course, was and is Sir Paul McCartney, dad of one of the original fashion rocks offspring, Stella – who won the Red Carpet award this year. The award recognized the quantity and quality of her designs worn on the red carpet and the resulting global media buzz. That see-through dress was everywhere this year, no?

Patterned after papa Paul, Stella is chilled on the blue carpet.

She wore a patterned jumpsuit from her own label, nach, on the BFA blue carpet.

I’ll have lots more of my observations from the BFAs tomorrow. [Update Nov 29: Read BFAs 2011: The Winners.]

More rock star kids.
